self portrait in process

I haven't really been recording the painting's evolution like I wanted to. This isn't done (although it's technically due tomorrow...) but you can get a drift of where it's going. A lot of it was actually just done with my fingers.

Phantom Pains Reception

The reception for Phantom Pains last night was a total success (thank you to all who came out.) Here are a few photos from the event (they don't really show the whole space/ the peak of the event, but you get the drift):

The show is up till the 20th of November, so check it out anytime!

nocturn layer 2

I'm frustrated by this photo because it seems to have lost all the nuances of the many tinted layers. I think I want to leave it similar to this, I really like all the textures of thick and thin that you only get when you see it in person.

more figure drawing

Just came across more figure sketches and thought I might upload them for posterity's sake...

The first three are from a series of quick studies (no more than 5 -10 mins each I think) at the Cantor Arts Center's Rodin sculpture garden last fall:

These other two are much older, they are both from a night class in fall 2006

(here my drawing was printed on a transparency, painted in layers, then cut out for a paper doll project...which I might end up uploading in a later post)

I'm stuck on this one, I know it isn't quite done, I think there is more build up that needs to happen in the liver tones before it really speaks to me. This is done over the second and central canvas of Ark.

Yes, I'm keeping the zebra. It's painted over the first panel of my Ark triptych and will be part of my Phantom Pains show in Stanford's Cummings Art Building lobby from November 10th - 20th.
