dearest 7 followers,

i am in the long and involved process of moving to wordpress.

though the blog is still a work in progress you can find it here:

that being said, i'm thinking of keeping this blog and to use as a much more playful/experimental blog. we will see.

abstract in process

currently working on this piece:

step 3 (7/27/10)
gumball...?

step 2 (6/20/10)

step 1

sistersistersis

sistersistersis
(approx) 4' x 5'
acrylic, charcoal, pastel, pen

dolls

(untitled)
ballpoint pen, pastels, acrylic, watercolor
aprox 4' x 3'

This came directly out of the sisters concept. I was playing with the idea of dolls (maybe voodoo dolls, maybe mummies) and wanted to see how far I could push the forms of the other sisters painting I did a while ago. It looks a little unfinished, but I've come to really like the strange ambiguity of it, the kind of unsettling black and patchy flat sand color...

collage silhouettes

empty stomach
coffee, ink, magazine, pastel
8" x 5"

diver
ink, coffee, newspaper
8" x 5"

They're kinda just experiments.

nest

nest ii
watercolor, pen, pastel
approx 8" x 8"

nest 1
mixed media (hair, cloth, sand, acrylic)
approx 3' x 3'

nest i came out of my independent study with Sabine Planes in Paris. It's one of my first real attempts to work the physicality of materials into the concept. That being said, I don't like it.

The sketch, nest ii, which actually came about after I had (about) finished the other one, was done without any reference and seems much more natural and less flat.
